RS-232 Pass Thru port
The RS-232 Pass Thru port loops the signal received at the switcher’s RS-232 control
port, the Contact (closure) port, or the front panel input buttons through the RS-232
Pass Thru port to send SIS commands to another Extron A/V switcher.
N
Only Extron products can be controlled via this port.
You can congure the SW USB to send commands through the RS-232 Pass Thru
port to the A/V switcher in two loop modes:
Loop 1 mode — The SW USB passes through only SIS commands received
via your computer’s RS-232 interface. (See “SIS command processing” in
chapter 3, “Operation”, for information on SIS commands that are supported
with the loop-through feature.)
Loop 0 mode (default) — The SW USB passes through SIS commands sent
from the computer’s RS-232 interface (loop 1 mode) plus input selections
made via contact closure or the front panel buttons.
N
In Loop 0 mode, you can still issue commands to the SW USB using the front
panel buttons, RS-232, or contact closure in both loop modes. The loop mode
selection affects only commands coming through the RS-232 Pass Thru port.
N
See “Issuing commands to an Extron A/V switcher via the RS-232 Pass Thru
port” in chapter 3 for more information on the loop modes and commands.
See chapter 4, “SIS Programming and Control”, for explanations of the available
SIS commands.
The diagram below shows how to wire the SW USB’s RS-232 Pass Thru port for use
with an Extron A/V switcher. The RS-232 Pass Thru port does not have a receive
pin; therefore, it does not receive responses from the connected A/V switcher.
